How Specific Should My Confession Be?

On Sunday, we preached through the sobering story of David and Bathsheba. Among other things, the story calls for believers to live in the light thereby not allowing sin to thrive unconfessed in the dark. Learning to confess sin to God and in appropriate ways to others is an essential part of the Christian life. One of the practical questions that will then inevitably arise is, “How do I do that? How do I confess my sin appropriately?” Here’s a brief video by Dr. David Powlison, a Christian counselor from our area who addressees this question with some helpful insights from the David and Bathsheba account. (His answer is framed in the context of a husband and wife, but the suggestions are transferable across our various relationships and situations.)
